Volunteer

DVS is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and receives funding from state grants, private grants, and community donations.

We are dedicated to providing a wide array of services to victims of domestic violence in our communities, and rely on volunteers and community support to keep operating.  The volunteers’ service is an integral part in the day-to-day activities and functions of DVS.  A minimum of 20 hours of training in Domestic Violence and Advocacy Based Counseling is required to be a volunteer.

Our next Volunteer Advocacy Training is Nov. 1st - 13th, 2008.

Topics include:
  • History of Domestic Violence
  • Dynamics of Domestic Violence
  • Advocacy Based Counseling
  • Cultural Competence
  • Confidentiality
  • DV & Children
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Safety Planning
  • The Legal System
  • Community Resources

Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator at (509) 735-1295 if you are interesting in volunteering with our agency.
