Domestic Violence Services of Benton and Franklin Counties offers:

Emergency Housing:

DVS provides emergency shelter to victims who are fleeing a domestic violence relationship with an intimate partner. The shelter is a large house in a residential area with 7 bedrooms and up to 30 people can be at the shelter at any one time.

Crisis Line:

DVS has a 24-hour crisis line available to any community member who needs to access DVS services or wants to talk about domestic violence issues.

Advocacy Based Counseling:

Advocacy Based Counseling is a cooperative effort shared between a client and an advocate with the primary focus on empowerment through reinforcing the client’s autonomy and self-determination by using non-victim-blaming problem-solving methods that include: identifying barriers to safety; developing safety checking and planning skills; clarifying issues; providing options; solving problems; increasing self-esteem and self-awareness; and improving and implementing skills in decision making, parenting, self-help, and self-care.

Legal Advocacy:

DVS provides support and advocacy for clients as they navigate the legal system as related to the issue of domestic violence, such as filing for a protection order. Referrals are made to other service providers when any legal issue is beyond the scope of services provided by DVS.

DVS provides comprehensive resources and referrals to other community agencies. Call 582-9841 if you need to find out what community resources are available.

Women’s Support Groups:

DVS support groups are a safe place where victims and survivors can lean more about abuse, talk about their abuse, get support, and obtain helpful resources which will provide tools to move forward towards a healthy and happy life.  Our support group is based on our “Am I Abused” packet.

Emergency Assistance:

DVS may be able to provide additional assistance based on availability of resources.

Outreach Education:

DVS staff is available to provide trainings on domestic violence to other groups, agencies and service providers. We can tailor the curriculum to fit your specific needs. Call 735-1295 for more information.

Volunteer Program:

Volunteers are an essential part of our program.  DVS depends on volunteer to work in the shelter, answer the crisis line, work with children, provide legal advocacy, and assist at out administrative offices.
